Gum Man

Connecting the city and Southbank it’s likely that you’ll stomp across this Millennium Bridge during your stay. But look down and you’ll see the work of our hero, Chewing-Gum Man (Ben Wilson). He creates miniature works of art from chewing gum blobs that pepper bridge. Perfecting a technique of using a blowtorch and layers of acrylic paint and lacquer to make tiny, shining works of art at our feet. The subjects range from London scenes to brightly coloured abstract patterns and strange creatures. He offers a street-level alternative to the Tate Modern and we always check out his latest creations on our stroll across the bridge.

Our top tip?
Head over the bridge at the end of the day, to see what pieces Ben’s been creating.
