This city knows how to throw a party with an eclectic mix that caters to every taste. Whether you’re a dance floor dynamo, a pub-loving punter, a barfly, keen to try a restaurant or two, or a theatre aficionado, Manchester’s after-dark offerings will make your night sparkle.

Iconic Music Venues

Music pulses through Manchester’s veins like a heartbeat, and boy, does it have the venues to prove it! The colossal Manchester Arena is a superstar stage for global icons and epic concerts. But if you’re after something a bit more snug, swing by Band on the Wall—a historic hotspot for jazz and world music. And don’t miss the Albert Hall, a stunning ex-Wesleyan chapel now rocking with the UK’s hottest indie and electronic acts. With acoustics to die for, it’s a mecca for music lovers.

Energetic Nightclubs

Get your groove on at Manchester’s legendary bars and nightclubs! The Warehouse Project is your go-to for an immersive dance fest with top DJs and electronic beats from September to January. Or try a club in the underground scene, dishing out techno, house, and drum and bass. And let’s not omit the fabulous Gay Village around Canal Street with fabulous cocktail bars buzzing with inclusive vibes and unforgettable parties.

Pubs and Bars

Fancy a chilled-out evening? Manchester’s pubs and bars are calling your name. The Northern Quarter is a treasure trove of traditional pubs and trendy bars. Port Street Beer House boasts a colossal craft beer collection, while The Castle Hotel, dating back to the 18th century, serves up live music and local ales in a delightfully cosy setting. Head to Cloud 23 for sky-high cocktails with jaw-dropping city views for a swanky twist. Perfect for a romantic date or unwinding after a hectic day.

Live Comedy and Theatre

The theatre scene in Manchester is alive and kicking! The Manchester Opera House and Palace Theatre host everything from West End hits to timeless classics and fresh new shows. Need a good laugh? The Comedy Store is your ticket to hilarity, featuring seasoned comics and rising stars.

Late-Night Eats

When the munchies hit, Manchester’s late-night eateries and restaurants have you covered. Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, is renowned for its rich history, vibrant cultural scene, and beautiful parks and gardens. These green spaces are enchanting during the summer, providing a picturesque escape from urban life. Here’s a guide to some of Glasgow’s best parks and gardens.

Kelvingrove Park

Located in the West End of Glasgow, Kelvingrove Park is a classic example of a Victorian park. Its extensive grounds are home to the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The park offers a diverse landscape ranging from neatly manicured lawns to the more naturalized areas along the River Kelvin. Summer is the perfect time to witness the park in full bloom, with its impressive floral displays and a variety of wildlife. It’s also a hub for events, including the Glasgow Mela and open-air concerts.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens

Since its establishment in 1817, the Glasgow Botanic Gardens has been a must-visit for plant enthusiasts and nature lovers. The gardens boast a variety of plant collections, the most famous being the Kibble Palace, a large glasshouse that houses tropical plants from around the world. In summer, you can enjoy the lush greenery and vibrant colours of the outdoor gardens, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a picnic.

Pollok Country Park

Winner of Europe’s Best Park in 2008, Pollok Country Park is the largest park in Glasgow and offers something for everyone. The park also hosts the annual Glasgow Highland Games, which is a spectacle not to be missed.

The Hidden Gardens

Nestled behind the Tramway, an arts space in Glasgow’s Southside, The Hidden Gardens offer a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. These gardens, designed as a sanctuary for peace and contemplation, promote mental and spiritual well-being through nature. The gardens are particularly vibrant in summer, with workshops and community events that bring people together to appreciate the serene environment.

Linn Park

One of the larger parks in Glasgow, Linn Park, offers a mix of natural landscapes and recreational facilities. It features everything from woodland walks and waterfalls to a golf course and a children’s play area. The park is particularly beautiful in summer when the wildflowers are in bloom, and the woodlands are lush and green. It’s an ideal spot for family picnics, hiking, and nature photography.

During the summer months, Glasgow’s parks host a myriad of events and activities. There’s always something happening, from outdoor theatre performances and music concerts to nature walks and educational workshops. From Jogging Trails to Horse Riding – Activities in Hyde Park

Hyde Park is one of London’s eight Royal Parks. Its sprawling 350 acres are known for its historical significance and natural beauty, but the park also serves as a green lung in the heart of London. The park draws crowds of tourists and locals looking to indulge in outdoor recreational activities ranging from serene jogs to exhilarating horse riding.

Jogging and Walking Trails

Jogging in Hyde Park is a favourite activity among fitness enthusiasts. The park boasts several well-maintained paths, the most popular being the 7-kilometre loop that skirts the perimeter. This route is frequented by joggers and walkers alike, offering picturesque views and a flat terrain that suits all fitness levels. Additionally, the Serpentine Road that runs through the park is another favorite, particularly appealing for those who enjoy water-side scenery as it follows the edge of the famous Serpentine Lake.

For those looking for a more structured workout, Hyde Park also hosts Parkrun, a free, weekly, timed 5km run open to everyone and easy to join. This community-led event is perfect for those looking to improve their personal bests or meet other running enthusiasts.

Cycle Routes

Cycling is another activity widely enjoyed in Hyde Park. With designated cycling routes, the park is a haven for cyclists away from the city’s bustling traffic. The broad paths accommodate leisurely rides and more serious cycling sessions. Bike rentals are readily available at various points around the park, making it convenient for visitors to hop on a bike and explore.

Horse Riding

One of the more unique offerings of Hyde Park is the opportunity for horse riding. The park’s Rotten Row, a famous bridleway, is historically significant as it was the first lit road in England. Today, it continues to be a popular path for horse riding. Several stables nearby, such as Hyde Park Stables, offer horse riding lessons for both beginners and experienced riders. This unforgettable experience allows visitors to experience the park from a different perspective, riding along on horseback like royalty in past centuries.

Boating on the Serpentine

The Serpentine Lake is not just for joggers and walkers. It also provides a perfect setting for boating. Visitors can rent pedal boats or rowboats and enjoy a leisurely time on the water. This activity is especially popular in the warmer months, providing a tranquil escape and a chance to watch the abundant waterfowl that call the lake their home.

Swimming and Triathlon Events

For the more adventurous, the Serpentine Swimming Club offers the opportunity to swim in the open waters of the Serpentine. This club is known for its famous members, including Captain Matthew Webb, the first man to swim the English Channel. The lake also hosts annual triathlon events, which attract athletes from all over the world.

Visit Hyde Park

Hyde Park provides an array of activities catering to every outdoor enthusiast. Whether it’s a gentle jog, a vigorous horse ride, or a peaceful boat ride, the park’s historic paths and scenic vistas offer a refreshing retreat from the urban hustle. Discover Native Apart Hotel is close to the park, making it the ideal accommodation for discovering this fantastic historic park.
