Where to Stay in London: A Local Guide for First-Time Visitors

First-time visitors to London should stay in Zone 1, within walking distance of major attractions and tube stations. The best areas combine excellent transport links, safe streets, and easy access to landmarks without tourist-trap prices.

Our luxury aparthotels in London offer the perfect base for exploring the city, combining hotel service with the freedom of your own apartment.

Key Takeaways:

  • Mayfair: London’s most exclusive address, designer shopping, bordered by Royal Parks
  • St. Paul’s: Historic City location, peaceful weekends, steps from cathedral
  • South Bank: Riverside location, free museum access, excellent food markets
  • Hyde Park: 350 acres of Royal parkland, luxury shopping at Harrods, museum quarter
  • Westminster & Victoria: 5 minutes to Big Ben, direct Gatwick trains, quieter evenings
  • Soho: 200+ restaurants, 50+ bars, Oxford Street shopping at your doorstep
  • Kensington: 3 major museums within 5 minutes, 625 acres of royal parks

Westminster & Victoria

Westminster delivers immediate access to London’s most famous landmarks, with Big Ben visible from many street corners. A 5-minute walk takes you to Parliament Square, while Buckingham Palace sits just 15 minutes away. The area’s transport hub at Victoria Station offers direct trains to Gatwick Airport and connections across the city.

Evening crowds thin quickly here, creating a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere for an area so central. The neighborhood’s quieter nights make it particularly suitable for families and those preferring calmer surroundings after busy days.

“Skip the crowds at St. James’s Park and head to Victoria Tower Gardens instead – it’s right by Parliament but rarely busy, perfect for morning coffee with a view of Big Ben. The best time for Parliament Square photos is actually during the ‘blue hour’ just before sunrise. My local secret is the Strutton Ground Market on weekday lunchtimes – proper London food stalls where government workers grab lunch.” – Native Customer Service

Mayfair

Mayfair delivers London’s most exclusive address, nestled between Hyde Park and Green Park. Bond Street showcases the world’s leading luxury brands, while Michelin-starred restaurants cluster around Berkeley Square. Native Mayfair places you among the prestigious Georgian townhouses and high-end galleries that define this sophisticated quarter.

Transport connections remain discreet but comprehensive. Green Park and Bond Street stations offer quick access to key London destinations, including direct Elizabeth Line services to Heathrow. The area’s central location puts Oxford Street, Buckingham Palace, and Soho within 10 minutes on foot.

“The hidden gem here is Mount Street Gardens – it’s my go-to peaceful spot, especially during lunch hours. Skip the obvious Bond Street shops and explore Burlington Arcade at opening time – the traditional Beadles in their Victorian uniforms are always happy to share historical stories. For the best value fine dining, book the lunch menu at Murano – same Michelin-starred food at half the evening prices.” – James, Native Mayfair Concierge

Mayfair

South Bank & Waterloo

South Bank combines London’s best riverside views with outstanding cultural venues and transport links. The neighborhood hosts the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe, and Borough Market within a 10-minute walking radius. Waterloo Station provides comprehensive rail and tube connections to all central London areas.

Native Bankside offers stunning Thames views and puts you minutes from Borough Market, London’s oldest food market dating back to 1014. The riverside location offers practical benefits beyond scenery. Three tube stations – Waterloo, Southwark, and Blackfriars – ensure quick access to any central London destination. The Thames Path provides a scenic walking route to Tower Bridge eastward or Westminster westward.

“Borough Market is fantastic, but timing is everything. Come at 10 AM on Wednesdays for the best selection and shortest queues. The riverside path between Bankside and Tower Bridge is actually more atmospheric in light rain – you’ll get those moody London photos everyone wants. Don’t miss Flat Iron Square on Sundays – it’s where locals actually eat and drink.” – Native Bankside Guest Relations

Soho

Soho places you in London’s liveliest dining and entertainment quarter, bordered by Oxford Street’s shops and Chinatown’s restaurants. The neighborhood packs over 200 restaurants, dozens of theaters, and countless bars into its compact streets. Major shopping destinations Oxford Street and Regent Street frame the area’s northern and western edges.

Transport options from Soho cover all central London routes. Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road, and Leicester Square stations create a triangle of tube access points. The new Elizabeth Line at Tottenham Court Road adds direct airport connections to both Heathrow and upcoming services to Stansted.

“For the best dim sum in Chinatown, avoid the weekend rush and visit between 3-5 PM on weekdays. Soho Square gets packed during lunch hours, but it’s wonderfully peaceful before 9 AM – perfect for morning coffee from our favorite local spot, Kisu. Music lovers should check out Berwick Street’s vinyl shops early afternoon when new stock arrives. The local’s route to Oxford Street is through the quieter Carnaby Street backroads.” – Native Community Manager

St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s combines centuries of history with modern city convenience. King’s Wardrobe by Native sits moments from St. Paul’s Cathedral, surrounded by historic lanes and contemporary architecture. The area transforms from bustling business district to peaceful urban village on weekends.

St. Paul’s and Blackfriars stations connect to multiple tube lines, while the Thames Path offers scenic walking routes. The new Elizabeth Line at Farringdon provides rapid airport connections just one stop away.

“The best view of St. Paul’s isn’t from the front – walk through Paternoster Square to the back of the cathedral at sunset. Our guests love grabbing breakfast at Bread Ahead in the Bow Bells House, where City workers get their morning coffee.” – King’s Wardrobe Native Team Lead

St. Paul's Cathedral Serviced Apartments

Kensington

Kensington combines cultural attractions with elegant residential streets and extensive parkland. The Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, and Science Museum cluster together on Exhibition Road, all offering free entry. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens provide 625 acres of green space directly north of the neighborhood.

High Street Kensington and South Kensington stations connect the area to central London via the Circle and District lines. The Piccadilly Line at South Kensington offers direct Heathrow access. Regular buses run to Oxford Street, Marble Arch, and Victoria, typically taking 20-30 minutes.

“Skip the museum café queues and head to Fait Maison on Gloucester Road – it’s where museum staff grab their morning coffee. The V&A’s hidden garden courtyard opens at 10 AM, perfect for a quiet moment before exploring. Kensington Gardens’ allotment garden near Palace Gate is my secret spot for escaping crowds. For the best value dining, explore the local favorites along Thackeray Street rather than the high street.” – Native Guest Relations

Hyde Park

Hyde Park anchors this affluent area, offering 350 acres of royal parkland as your front garden. Native Hyde Park positions you perfectly between culture and nature – the Victoria & Albert Museum, Science Museum, and Natural History Museum lie 10 minutes south, while Harrods and Harvey Nichols sit just 5 minutes east.

Lancaster Gate and Knightsbridge stations serve the area, with direct Heathrow access via the Piccadilly line. The 36 bus route provides a scenic connection to Oxford Street and the West End, running 24 hours.

“Most visitors stick to the main paths in Hyde Park, but the hidden Rose Garden near Hyde Park Corner is stunning from May to September. For a proper English breakfast without tourist prices, try Urban Pantry on Watford Street. The Italian Gardens are perfect for morning coffee – bring your cup from your Native kitchen and join the local dog walkers.” – Native Hyde Park Operations Manager

Choosing Your Ideal Area

Select your London location based on your primary interests and transport needs:

  • Pick Westminster for landmark-focused trips
  • Select South Bank for cultural venues and river views
  • Opt for Soho if dining and entertainment top your list
  • Choose Kensington for museums and a quieter pace

Transport tip: All recommended areas sit within Zone 1-2, keeping travel costs lower. A contactless payment card or Oyster card offers the best value for public transport, with daily and weekly caps automatically applied. Check the latest tube times and plan your journey using Transport for London’s live updates.

Practical Tips for London First-Timers

London’s airports connect differently to central areas, affecting your choice of location. Heathrow travelers benefit from direct tube access to Covent Garden, Kensington, and Soho via the Piccadilly Line. Gatwick arrivals should consider Westminster or Victoria for fast Gatwick Express connections.

The Underground runs until approximately midnight, with Night Tube services on weekends along key routes including the Central, Victoria, and Jubilee lines. Night buses fill transport gaps, operating 24/7 across central London.

Book advance tickets for major attractions near your chosen area to avoid queues. Westminster visitors should reserve Parliament tours weeks ahead. Covent Garden stays benefit from pre-booked theater tickets, while Kensington museum exhibitions often sell out, particularly during peak season.

Each area offers unique early morning experiences. South Bank’s sunrise views draw photographers before crowds arrive. Covent Garden’s market setup provides a glimpse of local life from 7 AM. Westminster’s streets offer clear landmark photos before 9 AM.

How to Make the Most of Your Aparthotel Stay

Transform your aparthotel experience from a simple stay into your perfect home away from home. At Native Places, we’ve helped thousands of guests unlock the full potential of aparthotel living. Whether you’re checking in for a few nights or settling in for an extended stay, we’ll show you how to maximise every aspect of your apartment experience.

Key Takeaways:

  • Pre-arrival planning makes a big difference
  • Smart kitchen strategies can save you significant money
  • Creating dedicated zones maximises your living space
  • Local integration enhances your overall experience
  • Building routines helps you feel more at home

Pre-Arrival Preparation

Thoughtful preparation transforms your aparthotel stay from temporary accommodation into a true home experience. At Native Places, we’ve learned from hosting thousands of guests that the key to an exceptional stay lies in the details you arrange before arrival.

Understanding your neighbourhood enhances every aspect of your stay. Before you arrive, familiarise yourself with the local area through our neighbourhood guides. We’ll point you toward the nearest supermarkets, transport links, and essential services. For example, our Native Manchester guests often discover the hidden gems of Ancoats, from artisanal coffee shops to historic canals, simply by researching the area beforehand.

Packing for Aparthotel Living

Pack differently for an aparthotel stay – you’ll have more amenities but also more opportunities to make the space your own. Consider bringing personal touches that make your apartment feel like home, such as:

  • Your favourite coffee beans for our provided coffee makers
  • A small selection of spices if you love cooking
  • Exercise equipment for in-room workouts
  • Photos or small decorative items for longer stays
  • Tech accessories like HDMI cables for streaming

Remember, all our apartments include full laundry facilities, so you can pack lighter and smarter. We provide essentials like towels, linens, and kitchen basics, letting you focus on personal items that enhance your stay.

First Day Success

Your first 24 hours set the tone for your entire stay. We’ve developed a proven approach to help you settle in quickly and comfortably, based on feedback from our most satisfied guests:

  • Explore the neighbourhood in daylight
  • Stock up on essentials at nearby shops
  • Familiarise yourself with building amenities, like communal workspaces & on-site cafes
  • Set up your space before evening

Our team can store your luggage if you arrive before check-in time, allowing you to explore unencumbered. We’ll also give you a thorough orientation of your apartment and the building’s facilities, ensuring you feel at home from the start.

We recommend taking time to properly settle in. Start with these proven steps:

  1. Unpack completely – living out of a suitcase creates unnecessary stress
  2. Stock your kitchen thoughtfully – begin with breakfast essentials and snacks
  3. Set up your workspace if needed – check the WiFi and find your optimal spot
  4. Arrange your living space for comfort – consider natural light and room flow
  5. Locate all emergency exits and review safety procedures

Our local team can guide you to the best nearby shops for essentials. For example, with our Native Edinburgh property, our team knows every corner of the New Town and beyond.

Need the best local butcher? We’ll point you to George Bower on Raeburn Place. Looking for late-night essentials? The 24-hour Scotmid on Duke Street has you covered. From artisanal bread at Soderberg to the finest Scottish cheeses at I.J. Mellis, we’ll help you discover the neighbourhood’s finest local providers.

Take advantage of our local knowledge – we know where to find everything from the best coffee to late-night pharmacies.

Making the Most of Your Space

Living in an aparthotel is different from both hotels and traditional apartments. We’ve designed our spaces to be flexible, but knowing how to optimise them makes all the difference. They are perfect for business travellers, as well as family stays.

We provide ample storage, but organising it thoughtfully transforms your daily routine. Long-term guests tell us these strategies work best:

  1. Use drawer organisers for smaller items
  2. Keep frequently used cooking items within easy reach
  3. Store luggage in the cupboards
  4. Utilise bathroom space efficiently
  5. Create a designated “drop zone” for keys and everyday items

Kitchen and Dining Excellence

Your fully-equipped kitchen is one of our aparthotel’s biggest advantages. By staying with us you can save the most money and reduce waste by:

  • Planning meals around local seasonal ingredients
  • Buying basics in small quantities initially
  • Shopping at local markets for fresh produce

Work and Productivity

Creating the perfect work environment in your aparthotel can significantly boost your productivity. At Native Places, we’ve fine-tuned our spaces based on feedback from countless remote workers, families, and business travellers.

Natural light powers productivity, which is why we’ve designed our apartments with large windows. Position your workspace to maximise daylight without screen glare – morning workers thrive near east-facing windows, while afternoon focus sessions might benefit from a position away from direct sunlight. Our comfortable chairs and adjustable lighting maintain comfort during long work sessions, while neutral walls make perfect backgrounds for video calls.

We’ve invested in business-grade WiFi throughout our buildings because we understand reliable internet is non-negotiable. The network provides the strongest connection for video calls. If you encounter any tech issues, our reception team is just a call away.

Create clear boundaries between work and relaxation by designating specific areas for each. When you need a change of scene, our communal spaces offer fresh environments for casual meetings or focused work. Take advantage of the neighborhood areas for breaks – a quick walk or coffee in the new surroundings can refresh your mindset. After work, join our community events to properly switch off from the day.

Local Living Like a Pro

Establishing a daily rhythm helps you feel at home quickly. Start with our neighbourhood guides to find your perfect morning coffee spot – our guests particularly love the independent cafes near Native Manchester and the artisanal bakeries around Native Bankside. Discover quiet parks for afternoon breaks, and familiarise yourself with local stores for essentials. We’ll help you identify the best takeaways for busy days and introduce you to hidden gems that even locals might miss.

Local food tastings introduce you to local specialties, and our staff – all local experts – love sharing insider tips about their favourite spots. Whether you’re joining a community yoga session or chatting with neighbours in our shared spaces, you’ll find yourself feeling at home before you know it.

Why Choose Native Places For Your Next Stay

Our local teams bring a wealth of knowledge and support. Beyond standard concierge services, they’re your connection to authentic city experiences. Need restaurant recommendations for a business dinner? Looking for a last-minute dry cleaner? Want to know about upcoming local events? Our team’s expertise extends far beyond check-in and check-out.

While you have the privacy of your own apartment, we still provide hotel-standard cleaning services. For short stays, we provide weekly cleaning services: we refresh linens, restock essentials, and maintain your space while respecting your privacy and work schedule.

Sometimes things need attention – that’s why our reception desks are available 24/7. Don’t hesitate to report issues; we’d rather fix a dripping tap today than deal with a flood tomorrow. Save our emergency contact numbers in your phone, and familiarise yourself with emergency procedures when you first arrive.

The Threads of Christmas: An installation that celebrates Fashion, Festivity, & Regal Charm.

Unveiling our Christmas Installation at Native King’s Wardrobe, St. Paul’s.

Nestled in the heart of St Paul’s, London, Native King’s has been transformed into a masterpiece of couture-inspired festivity with our stunning festive installation, Threads of Christmas. In collaboration with the brilliant team at McQueens Flowers, we’ve woven together the threads of royal heritage, high fashion, and festive elegance to create an unforgettable seasonal display.

The History.

Nestled just behind St Paul’s Cathedral, Native King’s Wardrobe has a story that dates back centuries. Once the Royal Wardrobe in the 14th century, this remarkable space stored ceremonial robes for kings, queens, and members of the royal family. Honouring the property’s heritage, the restored townhouses are named after pioneering designers of the past, who transformed British attire.  Today, that legacy is woven into every detail of our Christmas display.

The Installation.

The installation is a celebration of the craftsmanship that defined both historic fashion and festive traditions.

The entrance archway is a curation of gold branches intertwined with pink-frosted baubles & bows that shimmer in the evening lights, evoking the splendour of couture-inspired design and the charm of a classic London Christmas display.

Inside the property, the bespoke floral gown, a version of our Christmas tree, is sustainably crafted with pink asparagus fern, preserved roses, pampas, & pine, honouring the artistry of the fashion innovators we pay homage to.

The decorations draw inspiration from the designers our houses are named after – embroidered pink velvet ribbons and baubles echo lingerie-inspired elements used daringly by Maison Lucile’s in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, while luxurious velvet and pearl swags reflect Rose Bertin’s iconic gowns. The floral head-dress crowning the design pays tribute to Mildred Blount, the trailblazing milliner. Together, they celebrate femininity, strength, and empowerment.

At Native, we believe in creating beauty responsibly. That’s why sustainability is at the heart of The Threads of Christmas. The use of dried flowers in the installation, including pink asparagus fern, gold branches, preserved roses, ruscus, pampas, and pine, not only speak to traditional femininity but also align with our ethos of conscious consumption, with many of the decorative pieces designed to be reused in future projects, ensuring that their beauty can be appreciated beyond this season. It’s part of our shared commitment with McQueens Flowers to celebrate creativity while caring for the planet.

Christmas Across Native Places.

The festive magic doesn’t stop at Native King’s Wardrobe. Across our other properties, including Native Bankside (a short walk away from Native King’s Wardrobe), you’ll find 6ft natural Christmas tree adorned with the same luxurious design elements as Threads of Christmas.

This holiday season, we invite you to discover the elegance and magic of Threads of Christmas at Native King’s Wardrobe, St Paul’s. Stop by to snap a photo with our couture-inspired installation, then stay for a festive drink and delicious bites at COUNTER Café Bar & Courtyard and experience the charm of a Native Christmas.

Business Traveller’s Guide to Aparthotels

Aparthotels are revolutionising business travel by offering the best of both worlds: the space and amenities of an apartment with the services of a hotel. At Native Places, our aparthotels provide business travellers with fully-equipped kitchens, dedicated workspaces, and flexible booking options – all typically at a lower cost than traditional hotels for extended stays.

Let us guide you through what aparthotels are, their benefits, and why they’re becoming the go-to choice for savvy business travellers.

Key Takeaways:

  • Aparthotels blend hotel services with apartment-style living
  • They offer more space, flexibility, and cost-efficiency for business travellers
  • Amenities like kitchens and workspaces cater to long-term stays
  • Aparthotels support a better work-life balance on the road

What Are Aparthotels and Why Do They Matter for Business Travel?

In our experience, aparthotels are the sweet spot between hotels and rental apartments. We design our Native Places aparthotels to offer larger living spaces than standard hotel rooms.

You’ll find fully equipped kitchens, separate living areas, and dedicated workspaces. We cater to both short-term and extended stays, which we’ve found is ideal for the varied needs of business travellers.

Why Aparthotels Are Ideal for Business Travelers

We can offer adaptable schedules for check-in, check-out, and cleaning services. Our larger living areas give you space to work, relax, and even host small meetings. We have a variety of services we can offer you.

We’ve designed our apartments to provide the privacy you need for focused work and restful downtime. And with in-room kitchens and laundry facilities, we give you the independence and cost-saving opportunities that extended-stay travellers appreciate.

We’ve seen how these features make a real difference, especially for longer business trips or for those who need a home-like environment while working away from their usual office.

Key Benefits of Aparthotels for Business Travelers

Our aparthotels offer significantly more space than traditional hotel rooms. We provide separate work areas because we know how important it is to have a dedicated space for productive work sessions. Let’s look at a few key benefits of aparthotels for business travellers.

Business-Friendly Amenities
We prioritise high-speed Wi-Fi in all our aparthotels, as we understand just how important this is to the modern business individual. We also have workspaces in your apartment and our public areas because we know that comfort equals productivity.

Flexibility in Length of Stay
We can offer discounted rates for longer stays because we know that sometimes a week-long trip can turn into a month-long project. Need to extend your stay at the last minute? We make that easy. We’ve tailored our approach to align with the unpredictable nature of business travel, providing a level of adaptability that traditional hotels often can’t match. Keep an eye on our offers page for more unique and seasonal discounts.

Aparthotel vs. Hotel: Which Is Better for Business Travel?

At Native Places, we’re often asked how aparthotels compare to traditional hotels for business travel. Let’s break it down based on what we’ve learned from our guests over the years.

Cost Efficiency
We’ve found that aparthotels often provide better value for money, especially for extended stays. Our nightly rates tend to decrease for longer bookings, which can significantly reduce overall travel costs. But the savings go beyond just the room rate.
With a fully equipped kitchen, you’re not forced to eat out for every meal. We’ve had guests tell us they’ve saved hundreds on food costs during month-long stays. Plus, having laundry facilities means you can pack lighter.

Flexibility in Amenities
While traditional hotels might offer daily housekeeping and room service, we’ve noticed that many business travellers prefer the independence an aparthotel provides. We’re more flexible than a hotel and don’t clean apartments every day allowing you to work uninterrupted when needed.

Long-Term Comfort
For stays longer than a few days, we’ve seen how aparthotels really shine. Our guests often tell us how much they appreciate having separate living and sleeping areas. It helps maintain a sense of normalcy, even when you’re away from home for weeks at a time. We’ve designed our spaces to feel like a home away from home, avoiding the impersonal feel that can come with extended hotel stays.

How Aparthotels Support Bleisure Travel

We’ve noticed a growing trend of business travellers extending their trips for leisure, commonly known as ‘bleisure’ travel. Aparthotels are uniquely positioned to support this trend.

Balancing Work and Relaxation
Our aparthotels offer the perfect setup for bleisure trips. The separate living and working areas make it easy to switch from work mode to vacation mode. You can wrap up your business commitments in your dedicated workspace, then relax in your living room or explore the local area.

Local Cultural Immersion
We believe in providing an authentic local experience. Our aparthotels are often located in residential areas, giving you a taste of local life. We provide recommendations for nearby restaurants, entertainment venues, and cultural sites, helping you make the most of your leisure time.

For example, the Counter King’s Wardrobe in St’ Paul’s. is a meeting place for residents, locals and everyone else. We’ve aimed to blend together the best parts of a local neighbour eatery and a deli. Stop by for a coffee if you’re on the way to a meeting, or a beer if you’re on your way back!

OPEN EVERYDAY.
Breakfast – 07:30-10:00
Lunch – 11:00-15:00
Evening bites – 17:00-23:00

Wellness Amenities
Some of our properties feature fitness spaces, and our front-of-house team know the best local wellness providers to offer services like spinning or yoga classes. We’ve found that these amenities are particularly appreciated by business travellers looking to de-stress and maintain their health routines while away from home.

How to Choose the Right Aparthotel for Your Business Trip

Based on feedback from our business guests, here are the key factors we recommend considering when choosing an aparthotel:

Location Matters
We always advise our guests to prioritise proximity to their work commitments. At Native Places, we strategically locate our properties near business districts and transport hubs. For example, our London Bankside location is central and accessible (as well as having its own fitness suite with Peleton bikes for rides!). Don’t just take our word for it, as Native Bankside was recently crowned as The Best Aparthotel in London by The Telegraph.

But we also believe in the importance of work-life balance. That’s why we ensure our locations offer easy access to local attractions, perfect for when you want to unwind or extend your stay for some ‘bleisure’ time. For example, our London Hyde Park location overlooks Susses Gardens, and of course is right by London’s largest green space (Hyde Park!).

Assessing Amenities
High-speed, reliable internet is non-negotiable for business travellers, and it’s standard in all our properties. We also provide dedicated workspaces in each apartment. When choosing an aparthotel, we recommend checking for these essential work-friendly features.

Don’t forget to look for additional amenities that can enhance your stay, such as on-site gyms or bike rentals – as we’ve found these can make a big difference in maintaining your routine while traveling.

Budget and Hidden Costs
While aparthotels often offer savings, it’s important to understand what’s included in your rate. At Native Places, we’re transparent about our pricing. We include most amenities in our base rate, but we always advise guests to check if services like parking or additional cleaning incur extra charges. We also offer flexible cancellation policies, which we’ve found to be crucial for business travellers whose plans can change at short notice.

Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Options in Aparthotels

We believe that business travel doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment. More and more travellers are seeking accommodations that align with their environmental values. That’s why we’ve made sustainability a core part of our offering.

We’ve found that eco-friendly practices not only appeal to environmentally conscious travellers but also often result in cost savings for both us and our guests.

We’ve implemented a range of initiatives to reduce our environmental footprint, through our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) agreement. In our aparthotels, you’ll find energy-efficient appliances and smart home technology that help manage energy consumption.

We’ve also taken steps to minimise waste, such as reducing single-use plastics and implementing comprehensive recycling programs.

One of the inherent benefits of aparthotels is that they tend to produce less waste than traditional hotels. With in-room kitchens, guests can cook their own meals, reducing the need for disposable containers and cutlery often associated with room service and takeout.

Spacious Apartments Perfect for Families

Our living areas typically span 40 square metres, providing ample room for the whole family to relax, play, or even squeeze in a bit of holiday work if needed.

Most of our apartments feature separate bedrooms, a godsend for parents who want to enjoy some quiet time after the kids are in bed. Our two-bedroom units comfortably house families of up to six, while our largest apartments can accommodate groups of up to eight—perfect for those family reunions or multi-generational holidays.

We’ve also thought about the practical side of family travel. You’ll find plenty of storage space, with built-in wardrobes and additional storage units to keep your apartment clutter-free.

Families tell us they sleep better in our apartments, with private bedrooms ensuring everyone gets the rest they need. The separate living areas mean parents can enjoy a glass of wine and conversation without waking the little ones.

We’ve designed our apartments with open-plan living areas that bring the whole family together. These spaces are perfect for movie nights, board games, or just lounging around and chatting about your day’s adventures.

Fully Equipped Kitchens

One of the standout features of our aparthotels is the fully equipped kitchen in our units. This isn’t just a mini-fridge and a microwave—we’re talking about a proper kitchen with everything you need to whip up anything from a quick breakfast to a full family dinner.

Most kitchens come with a full-size refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave, and dishwasher. We also provide all the cookware and utensils you’ll need.

Families staying with us report saving between £30-£100 per day on food costs. Over a week-long stay, that can add up to significant savings that you can put towards extra activities or souvenirs.

Having a kitchen gives you control over mealtimes, which can be a lifesaver when travelling with kids. No more searching for restaurants open at odd hours or trying to appease picky eaters. You can stick to your usual routines, prepare familiar foods, and cater to any dietary requirements with ease.

We also have extraordinary dining experiences via our selected Neighbourhood Heroes, in case you want to still go out for some fine dining.

Essential Family-Friendly Amenities

We’ve gone the extra mile to ensure our aparthotels cater to all your family’s needs. From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice the difference in our family-focused approach.

For our youngest guests, we provide essential items like travel cots at no extra cost. These are available on request and can be set up in your apartment before you arrive. With all the amenities you’d find in your kitchen at home, bottle-warming and sterilising are easy, saving you the hassle of packing these bulky items.

But we don’t stop at the basics.

For older children and teens, we offer various entertainment options within the apartments. Many units come with smart TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi, allowing them to stream their favourite shows or stay connected with friends back home. We always make our guests aware of what’s going on at Native Places, too. From workshops and gigs to talks and parties, there is always something for you and the family to go and do.

We also understand that family holidays often mean lots of laundry. That’s why all our aparthotels offer in-apartment washing machines. This means you can pack light and still have clean clothes throughout your stay, no matter how muddy the adventures get.

Our commitment to service means we’re always ready to assist. Need extra towels or help with an appliance? Our team typically responds within 15 minutes during daytime hours. Housekeeping requests can be fulfilled within the day if enough notice is given, ensuring your apartment stays comfortable throughout your stay.

Solo Traveller’s Guide to Aparthotels

Save money, live like a local, and enjoy the freedom of your own space – that’s the aparthotel advantage for solo travellers. At Native Places, our aparthotels combine the best of both worlds: the comfort and space of a private apartment with the convenience and services of a hotel.

In this guide, we’ll explore why aparthotels are ideal for solo travellers, what features to look for, and how to make the most of your stay. We’ll also share top picks from our Native Places portfolio and answer common questions to help you plan your perfect solo aparthotel experience.

Key Takeaways:

  • Aparthotels combine apartment living with hotel services, ideal for solo travellers
  • They offer flexibility, privacy, and independence not found in traditional hotels
  • Features like full kitchens and workspaces cater to various traveller needs
  • Aparthotels can be cost-effective, especially for longer stays
  • They provide a safe, comfortable base for exploring new cities on your own

Why Choose an Aparthotel as a Solo Traveler?

We give solo travellers unprecedented freedom to shape their stay. In our Native Places aparthotels, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, allowing you to whip up meals whenever the mood strikes, be it a midnight snack or an early breakfast.

We’ve designed our spaces to be your personal playground. Night owl or early bird, our flexible workspaces cater to your unique rhythm.

Our Aparthotels offer solo travellers a level of privacy that’s hard to match in other accommodations. You get your own self-contained living space, complete with a personal living room, bedroom, and often a separate desk area. This means you can truly unwind after a day of exploration or meetings, without the constant presence of other guests or hotel staff.

You control who enters your space and when, creating a genuine home-away-from-home feel. Despite this emphasis on privacy, many aparthotels, including Native Places, also provide communal areas. This gives you the option to socialise when you’re in the mood, striking the perfect balance between solitude and community during your solo adventures.

Key Features Solo Travelers Should Look for in Aparthotels

At Native Places, we position our aparthotels in the heart of vibrant cities, making solo exploration safe and convenient. Our London Bankside location, for instance, puts you within walking distance of the Tate Modern and Borough Market. In Manchester, you’re steps away from the trendy Northern Quarter.

This central positioning means you can easily pop back to your apartment to freshen up or drop off shopping, maximising your exploration time. It also ensures you’re never far from public transport, restaurants, and key attractions, reducing travel time and costs.

For solo travellers, this accessibility enhances safety, especially when returning late at night, and helps you feel more connected to the pulse of the city you’re discovering.

Every Native Places aparthotel comes with a fully equipped kitchen, giving solo travellers complete control over their meals. This means:

  1. Significant cost savings on dining out
  2. Flexibility to eat on your own schedule
  3. Ability to cater to specific dietary needs or preferences
  4. Opportunity to cook local ingredients and recipes

Our kitchens include essentials like pots, pans, utensils, and appliances, enabling everything from quick breakfasts to full dinners. We even provide tips on nearby markets and local specialities, helping you dive into the local food culture.

Fully-equipped kitchens give travellers plenty of possibilities to cook and be creative: recreating local dishes or prepping quick breakfasts before early starts. If you’re staying for a while, cooking can seriously slash your food budget. Plus, shopping at local markets is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture.

Work-Friendly Spaces

Native Places aparthotels are tailor-made for the working traveller. Our apartments come equipped with high-speed, reliable Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace. We’ve ensured ample power outlets are available throughout, so you’re never scrambling to charge your devices. Natural light floods the space, complemented by adjustable lighting options to suit your work preferences.

Beyond your private apartment, our communal areas offer varied work settings, from quiet nooks for focused tasks to open spaces for collaborative projects.

We’ve created this thoughtful design to offer an environment where productivity meets comfort, allowing you to seamlessly blend work and travel. Whether you’re joining a video call, drafting a report, or simply managing emails, our aparthotels offer the ideal setup for today’s digital nomads.

How Aparthotels Enhance the Solo Travel Experience

Aparthotels can be your gateway to authentic experiences. Unlike big chain hotels, many aparthotels are nestled in residential areas, giving you a taste of everyday local life.

At Native Places, we’re all about connecting our guests with the neighbourhood. We might host wine tastings featuring local vintners or organise walking tours led by residents. These events are perfect for solo travellers – you get to mingle with other guests and locals, all while getting the inside scoop on the best spots in town.

We know the impact that hotels can have on the Earth. This means more and more solo travellers are conscious about their environmental impact. Take a look at our sustainability policy for further insight on our values. When you’re looking for an aparthotel, keep an eye out for green initiatives.

For instance, we’ve kitted out our apartments with energy-efficient appliances and use locally-sourced, eco-friendly toiletries. Some of our buildings even have green roofs or use renewable energy. By choosing a sustainable aparthotel, you’re not just treating yourself to a great stay – you’re also doing your bit for the planet.

Top Native Aparthotel Picks for Solo Travelers

Native Bankside (London)
If you’re heading to London solo, our Native Bankside is a top pick. Nestled in the heart of the city, you’re just a stone’s throw from landmarks like the Tate Modern and Borough Market. The apartments here blend historic charm (it’s a converted tea warehouse) with modern comfort.

What makes it great for solo travellers? The cozy studios are perfect for one, with clever storage solutions and fully-equipped kitchens. Plus, the communal lounge is a great spot to meet other travellers or catch up on work. And with the Southbank on your doorstep, you’ll never be short of things to do.

Native Manchester
For those venturing to the north of England, Native Manchester is a gem for solo travellers. Set in a beautifully restored warehouse in the trendy Ancoats neighbourhood, it’s the perfect base for exploring this vibrant city.

What we love about this spot for solo adventurers is the mix of apartment sizes. You can opt for a cosy studio or treat yourself to a spacious loft. The on-site restaurant, Ducie Street Warehouse, is a social hub where you can enjoy a meal or drink without feeling out of place as a solo diner. Plus, Manchester’s famous music scene and cultural attractions are just a short walk away.

Native Glasgow
Glasgow’s a city with personality, and our Native Glasgow aparthotel matches that vibe perfectly. Housed in an elegant Edwardian building right in the city centre, it’s ideal for solo travellers keen to soak up Scottish culture.

The apartments here are bright and airy, with large windows that let you people-watch from the comfort of your own space. We’ve found solo guests love the Aparthotel’s location surrounded by plenty of places to grab a quick bite or settle in with a book and a coffee. And with Glasgow’s main shopping streets and museums on your doorstep, you’ll have plenty to explore.

How to Make the Most of Your Solo Stay at an Aparthotel

Solo travel can be daunting, but with an aparthotel as your base, you’ve got a safe haven to return to. We’ve seen countless solo travellers grow in confidence during their stays. Start small – maybe explore the immediate neighbourhood on your first day. Most aparthotels, including ours, have staff who can recommend safe, interesting areas to check out.

Don’t be afraid to use your aparthotel’s central location to your advantage. Pop back for breaks between sightseeing trips if you need to recharge. And remember, many aparthotels offer maps and local guides – use these to plan your adventures and discover hidden gems off the tourist track.

One of the best things about aparthotels? You’re not just booking a room, you’re joining a community. Many aparthotels, including Native Places, organise events for guests. These can range from yoga classes to cocktail nights or local art exhibitions.

For solo travellers, these events are golden opportunities. They’re relaxed, low-pressure ways to meet other guests and locals. You might find a sightseeing buddy or get insider tips on the best local spots. Even if you’re not usually the social butterfly type, give one of these events a try. You might surprise yourself!

FAQ

Q: Are aparthotels a good choice for solo female travellers?
Absolutely! Safety is a top priority for solo female travellers, and aparthotels tick all the boxes. At Native Places, we’ve implemented features like secure key card access, 24/7 reception, and well-lit common areas. Many of our solo female guests tell us they feel safer in an aparthotel than a traditional hotel, thanks to the apartment-style layout and the sense of having their own space.

Q: How long can I stay at an aparthotel?
That’s the beauty of aparthotels – they’re flexible! At Native Places, we’ve had solo travellers stay for just a night or two, while others have settled in for months. Most aparthotels cater to both short and extended stays.
For quick trips, you get more space and amenities than a standard hotel room. For longer stays, you can really make the place your own. Unpack, stock the fridge, and settle into a routine. It’s ideal if you’re on a work assignment, taking an extended vacation, or even in between permanent homes.

Q: Can I work from an aparthotel?
Absolutely! In fact, aparthotels are becoming increasingly popular with digital nomads and business travellers. At Native Places, we’ve designed our spaces with remote work in mind. Here’s what you can typically expect:

  1. Fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the building
  2. Comfortable desk spaces in your apartment
  3. Plenty of power outlets for all your devices
  4. Common areas or co-working spaces for when you need a change of scenery
  5. Meeting rooms available in some locations

Plus, having your own kitchen means you can fuel those long work sessions without relying on takeout or room service. It’s like having your own private office, but cozier!
